It's probably Croatia's most popular side dish, appearing on nearly every restaurant menu in the country, yet Blitva is delightfully easy to make. Sometimes a little chopped garlic, sauteed in olive oil is added.

Blitva

1kg Swiss chard (mangold)
2 medium potatoes
3 tblsp olive oil or to taste
1 tblsp Vegeta*
Salt & pepper to taste

  • Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add the Vegeta.
  • Rinse the Swiss chard well and remove the tough stems. Tear into large pieces
  • Peel potatoes and cut into 1/2 " square cubes
  • Drop the chard and potatoes into the boiling water and cook until done (about 10 minutes)
  • Drain and top with olive oil. Salt and pepper to taste.

*Order Vegeta online from Amazon. . .
