The coastal waters of Sibenik contain an archipelago of 249 islands stretching out over 157sq km. In this constellation of islands, only six have a permanent population that totals less than 7000 people. Needless to say, these little islands make marvelous getaways if you're looking for a rustic vacation experience. The six inhabited islands are linked by daily Jadrolinija ferries, a drawbridge and a boat.

There is limited accommodation on each of these islands. Private accommodation can be a great option and the local tourist offices can help you out. Otherwise, contact the Sibenik county tourist office for help.

Kaprije Island
The indented coastline is particularly beautiful on this 7 sq km island and there's a tranquil sheltered cove.

Krapanj IslandKrapanj Island

MurterMurter Island
At 19 sq km, it's the largest island in the archipelago and is reachable by adrawbridge over the Murter channel.

PrvicPrvic Island
Only 2.3 sq km with two villages, a little beach and lots of vineyards.

ZirjeZirje Island
Coves and inlets mark the shoreline of this 12-km long island. The waters teem with fish while the interior is dry and rocky.
