Srebrena beach, Vis Island
Srbrena beach, Vis Island

The beaches of Vis Island are mostly on the southern and eastern coast, easily reachable from Vis Town. Driving east from Vis Town, the first beach you reach is stunning Stoncica, only 6km by road. Park above the cove and take a narrow path downhill to reach this peaceful sandy beach. Only a small konoba and a few scattered houses break the calm.

Only a few kilometres further is Milna next to Zaglav, another beautiful sandy beach, only a short walk away. Zaglav is the island's largest sandy beach.

Keep heading south and you'll come to the tiny village of Rukavac. Here there is somewhat more accommodation and also a restaurant/bar with a terrace overlooking the sea. Park at Rukavac and the idyllic pebble beach of Srebrena is only a few metres away.

Further along on the road to Komiza a sign directs you to secluded Stiniva cove. Park your car and descend a rocky path for about 20 minutes and you'll come to this pebble beach protected on each side by looming rocky cliffs. Bring enough water!

Komiza and Vis Town also have some excellent beaches.
